Give Me Eyes That See

Abba,

Give me eyes to see…

Eyes to see the blessings in the sufferings

Eyes to see the good in the bad

Eyes to see the gifts that surround me

Eyes to see to Your grace

Give me a heart to feel…

A heart to feel the wonder of Your Creation

A heart to feel the awe of Your presence

A heart to feel the love You have for me

A heart to feel compassion for those who are hurting

A heart to feel thanksgiving for all that you have given me

A heart that is open to all that You have planned

Give me ears to hear…

Ears to hear Your Word

Ears to hear Your guidance

Ears to hear the cries of those around me who are hurting

Ears to hear the praises of those who love You

Ears to hear the lessons You want me to learn

Give me hands to touch…

Hands to touch the hurting

Hands to work for You

Hands to hug, to hold, and to do

Hands to serve those You love

Hands to worship You above

Give me a mouth to speak…

A mouth to speak Your love

A mouth to speak life to others

A mouth to speak Christ

A mouth to speak Your Word

A mouth to speak my thanks

A mouth to sing Your praises

Give me feet to go…

Feet to go on the path you have laid before me

Feet to go to the nations declaring who You are

Feet to run the race and not tire

Feet to walk in obedience to You

Amen

How do you see? What do you see?

When you look around you? Do you see the gifts that He has given to you?

Or do you see nothing but the pain?

What do you see?

As I was reading chapters 5 & 6 of One Thousand Gifts this week, I kept asking myself that question. What do I see? How do I see? Am I able to look at everything (even the painful stuff) and say that it is good?

Do I see the world through the lens of Jesus? Or do I see it through my own distorted view?

Do I truly believe that God loves me? Do I truly believe that God has a plan?

That even when it seems hopeless He is still working out His plan?

I want eyes that see the good in the bad. I want ears to hear to His word and a mouth to sing His praises even when singing His praises is hard.

I want a heart that trusts Him, that has peace when the hard times come.

The hard times are gonna come, and we have a choice…a choice to give praise and thanksgiving and trust that He is working or a choice to look only at ourselves and what we have lost. It is a hard choice. It is hard to take our eyes off of ourselves and what we have lost. It is hard to make Him our focus when times are rough. It isn’t easy, but when we do that is when peace comes. That is when healing happens. That is when we are able to give thanks even in the hard times.

So how do you see? What do you see? Do you see Him working or do you see only your pain?

Do you see His grace? Do you see by faith?

I love how you have expressed serving the Lord, looking to Him in every way.
Eyes, heart, ears, hands and feet can be attentive to the Lord. With our focus on Jesus we can be obedient and give thanks. I’m your neighbor at Faithful Friday. Have a blessed weekend.
