Let’s Get Together

Okay so I started thinking about what to share today and I was planning a round up of yummy finger foods to serve at parties. Well, let’s just say that didn’t happen.

I have been working on making decorations for the (in)RL conference meet-up that I am hosting on Saturday and they took a little longer to make than I had planned, but they were so much fun to make. I made paper flowers. Some are made from book pages and some from scrapbook paper. I made flags for a banner, and I made some little booklets with Bible verses in them to use for that book garland that I saw on Pinterest.

I have also been busy gathering the items needed for the craft we are going to make. I have seen that a lot of other hosts are coming up with their own craft, but this year I am sticking with the one that Jen shared on the (in)RL website. Mainly because I already had the majority of the stuff to make it and it is really a very easy thing to make.

Then as I finally sat down to write this post. The song “Let’s Get Together” from Parent Trap¬†popped into my head.

Let’s get together, yeah yeah yeah.
Why don’t you and I combine?
Let’s get together, what do you say?
We can have a swinging time.
We’d be a crazy team.
Why don’t we make a scene? Together.

oh, oh, oh, oh
Let’s get together, yeah yeah yeah.
Think of all that we could share.
Let’s get together, everyday
Every way and everywhere.
And though we haven’t got a lot,
We could be sharing all we’ve got. Together.

Oh! I really think you’re swell.
Uh huh! We really ring the bell.
Oo wee! And if you stick with me
Nothing could be greater, say hey alligator.

Let’s get together, yeah yeah yeah.
Two is twice as nice as one.
Let’s get together, right away.
We’ll be having twice the fun.
And you can always count on me.
A gruesome twosome we will be.
Together, yeah yeah yeah.

And as I am singing this song, Ecclesiates 4:9-12 came to mind.

“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil.”

We need each other.

“Woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!”

Living a life in isolation is not a good thing. Yes, times of solitude are needed, but keeping yourself isolated is asking for trouble, not avoiding it as you might think.

“And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him–a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”

We hear it often said that one person can change the world. An idea might start with one person, but then they share it with others. They fall in with the idea and it starts spreading. And as the idea spreads, the stronger it gets because “a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”

Let’s get together because together we can have a great time.

Let’s get together because together we can help each other.

Let’s get together because together we can refresh each other.

Let’s get together because together we make a great team.

Let’s get together because together we can change the world.
