Be a Blessing

As much as I have been writing about community and giving and blessing others, you all are probably going to start thinking that I am going to hit you up for money or something else.

But I’m not.

You see, while I am glad you all come over to visit and read my posts. When I am writing, I am mostly writing for myself.

I need these almost daily reminders that it is Jesus first, others second, and then myself.

I need these daily reminders not to just sit on my “bum” and complain about how unfair life is.

I need these reminders that I can make a difference even if it is just a small one.

I need these reminders that I need community and to be a part of something greater than myself.

I need these reminders that every single day I should be reaching out to someone to be a blessing to them.

I get caught up in the excuses of:

“I can’t leave my house because of Grandma.”

“I don’t have any money.”

“I don’t know how to do that.”

I get so focused on what I don’t have to give that I’m missing out on what I do: myself.

I have time. Since I take care of my grandmother that means that I have lots of “free” time as long as I don’t leave the house without her or for more than an hour or so.  So how can I use that free time to bless others?

I have talents. I enjoy crocheting, writing, baking, cooking, crafting, and many other things. How can I use those talents to bless others?

I have spiritual gifts. How can I use those gifts to bless others?

How can I use what God has given me to bless others?

These are all questions that I have been asking myself lately. I don’t want to be a taker. I want to be a giver. I want to be a blessing to other people.

Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to have a million dollars to use to help other people.

Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to write praise songs like Chris Tomlin does.

But I wasn’t placed where the Lord can use be like that.

I was placed where I am to be a blessing to others.

A blessing to my grandmother

A blessing to my parents

A blessing to my sister and her family

A blessing to my friends

A blessing to you who read this blog

I was created to be a blessing and so were you.

Who are you blessing today?

Are you a mom? How are you blessing your children?

Are you a wife? How are you blessing your husband?

How are you blessing the people that you work with?

How are you blessing your friends?

Go on. Be a blessing to someone today…They’ll thank God for it.
