Bloom Where You are Planted

“Bloom where you are planted,”
My grandmother once said to me.
“Bloom where you are planted
So that you can be all you can be
Storms will come,
And lightening will strike
But don’t let the joys of this life pass you by.
Bloom where you are planted,
And one day you will see
That you are who God created you to be.”

“Bloom where you are planted,”
My grandmother once said to me.
“Make the best with what you have
And let the rest just be.
Worry gives you wrinkles
So just do what you can do.
Bloom where you are planted,
And the Lord will bless you.”

“Bloom where you are planted,”
My grandmother once said to me.
“Live each day like it’s your last.
Don’t worry about tomorrow
And don’t fret about the past.
Live within the present.
Each new day is a gift.
Bloom where you are planted,
And one day you will see
That everything turned out
Just as it was meant to be.”

    1. Thank you! I don’t actually remember where I first heard that saying, but it worked well to start a poem with. If you visit the About Me page, you will find the story behind the name.

  3. Beautiful poetry! I think I was on your site before from FMF – nice to see you again!! and remembering that phrase from a favored relaxation post I used to listen to – bloom where you are planted now. Wonderful advice! Thanks,

  4. Oh, i love this! For one reason this is one of my mantras. Have you ever heard the old song, “Brighten the Corner Where You Are”? It’s way before you time. 🙂 The woman who wrote it was planning to go to the mission field and her father got sick and didn’t have anyone to care for him. She stayed home and through her disappointment wrote the song. You can find the lyrics here: http://library.timelesstruths.org/music/Brighten_the_Corner_Where_You_Are/
