START Living a Life Saturated in Christ

As many of you know, my word for 2014 was saturated. I chose it with the idea that I wanted to saturate my life in God’s word and in Christ. This year I want to challenge all of you to do the same.

Of all the things that we need to start doing in our lives, living a life that is saturated in Christ is the most important, but like everything in life, it doesn’t just happen. The Lord grants us the desires to live this way, but it is up to us to choose to live this way. It takes work and deliberation on our part. It also takes a strength that we don’t have on our own, but the Lord provides us with someone who does strengthen and comfort us…The Holy Spirit.

Living a life that is saturated in Christ will look differently to every single one of us because God created each of us to be unique. Each of us have different callings, talents, skills, and spiritual gifts. Some of us are called to be wives and mothers. Some of us are called to be single. Some of us are called to be doctors, lawyers, teachers, etc. Each of us was created for a purpose, and living a life that is saturated in Christ is how we learn what our purpose and callings are.

But while each of us are unique in what our lives will look, there are some things that all of us need to be doing in order to live a life that is saturated in Christ.

  • Have a relationship with Christ.

It may sound obvious but you can’t live a life saturated in Christ if you don’t have a relationship with Him. You can read and study the Bible. You can pray. You can love others, but if you don’t have a relationship with Christ then none of that matters.

  • Spend time studying the Bible

You have to spend time reading and studying the Word if you want to live a life saturated in Christ. It is through the Bible that we are able to start getting to know the Lord. It is through the Bible that we can only truly begin to know ourselves because the Bible is like a mirror reflecting our souls. • Spend time in prayer

Philippians4_6_esv

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” {1 Thessalonians 5:16-18}

  • Be obedient to the Holy Spirit’s leading

The Lord sent the Holy Spirit to guide us. He has given each of us gifts to use for God’s glory. He comforts us and leads us. When we are present and aware of what is happening around, then we can also recognize His promptings and follow His leading. We start to see things the way that the Lord sees them.

  • Love others as you love yourself

As we follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, we learn to love others. We learn to recognize those in need and learn to give generously.

Today we need to start living our lives saturated in Christ, seeking after Him and the life that the Lord has planned for us. When we are living in our lives saturated in Christ, we will be living more grateful, joyful, and loving lives.
