God’s love for us is steadfast and faithful, and He wants our love for Him to be the same. It is not something that we can do on our own though. Many people can’t be faithful to other people who they can see and touch so how much harder is it to be faithful to a God that you can’t see or touch?
So where does this ability to be faithful to the Lord come from? It comes from the Holy Spirit. Read Galatians 5:22-23. Faithfulness is listed as part of the fruit of the Spirit.
We show our love for the Lord, not only by our faithfulness to our belief in Him, but in our faithfulness in the “everyday” tasks, in our faithfulness in using our talents and abilities for His glory and to help others, in our faithfulness to ourselves and in our faithfulness to others. We show it in our faithfulness to learning His Word and in our faithfulness to being obedient to His Word. Our faithfulness in all of these things shows the Lord that we love Him.
It is in our faithfulness that we show that our love for Him is genuine.
Faithfulness isn’t found in doing the BIG things. Faithfulness is found in doing the small things. Faithfulness is found in doing the small, everyday tasks that are placed before us, tasks that may seem dull, boring, or just plain tedious. It is found in being consistent and in being loyal to God, your family and others.
Whether our tasks are those of a stay-at-home mom or a working mom, be faithful.
Whether our tasks are those of a wife or a single woman, be faithful.
Whether our tasks are those of a doctor or a teacher, be faithful.
Whether our tasks are those of an artist or an accountant, be faithful.
Whether our tasks are those of a company CEO or a production line worker, be faithful.
God calls us to be faithful. He asks us to be loyal. He wants us to be constant. He desires us to be steadfast. In being all of these things, we show Him that we love Him.
What tasks has the Lord given you to do this day? What areas are you being faithful? What areas can you improve your faithfulness?
Keep on doing what you are doing. Be faithful.
