When I first started this blog, I started it as a hobby and I had no niche, no editorial calendar, and no real direction. I shared craft ideas, recipes from old cookbooks or newspapers, book reviews, what the Lord was doing in my life, funny things about being single. Well, okay, basically I just shared whatever I felt like sharing. Gradually I started sharing more and more about my faith and less of the cooking, crafts, etc until all I wrote about was my faith and being single.
While I’m very passionate about my faith, I realized recently that I wanted to add the crafts, recipes, etc back into the mix, but I wasn’t sure how. Craft and recipe posts are more time consuming than simply sitting at my computer and writing what God has put on my heart to share. They take more planning and I have to remember to have my camera handy when in the kitchen or when I’m crafting so I wanted to try and figure out how I can add these fun elements back into my blog without necessarily adding a new craft, recipe, or book review every single week.
What I came up with is: Friday Funday!
“What is Friday Funday?” you ask.
Friday Funday is the one day per week that I’m setting aside to share my creative side with you.
On Friday Funday you might find:
- A new recipe
- A new craft/art tutorial
- A round-up of quotes, recipes, etc.
- A book review
- A short story
- A poem
- Bucket list ideas
- My current playlist or a seasonal playlist
- Links to blog posts or photography or videos that I find inspiring
- A list of fun movies to watch, books to read, or TV shows to check out
- Girls’ Night Out or Girls’ Night In ideas
- “Me” night ideas
- Date night ideas for those of you who are currently dating or married
You won’t know what you’ll find until you show up on Friday.
The Single Life
For those of you new to the blog, you might be wondering what The Single Life is. The Single Life was a weekly post that focused on encouraging Christian singles. It included a weekly link party for single bloggers and those who would write to encourage singles.
Now the few of you who still follow the blog might be wondering about what is happening with The Single Life.
To be honest, I’m not certain what is going to happen with it. I haven’t decided if I want to bring back The Single Life or not. It wasn’t growing although I admit that most of that has to do with my social media skills (or lack thereof), but some of it also has to do with you, my readers, because it wasn’t being shared very often even by those who were linking up their posts. I still believe that it is needed though because it was meant to be a place of community for those who are single whether they have never married, are single again or whether they waiting for the right one to come along or feel called to live their lives celibate.
Do you want me to bring back The Single Life link party? If you do, what topics would you want to read about? And would you be interested in guest posting?
