In the past few weeks there are have been a lot of changes in my life. I don’t know why but it seems that changes always hit at the same time although many of these changes are changes I have instigated myself. I think you could say that I’ve had a change of heart about many things, and it has lead me to creating changes that will ultimately help me be a better me and change my life.
Some of the changes in the past few weeks are:
Change #1: My grandma Boone (GB) moved in with us. My grandma Elaine (GE) and I moved in with my parents about 3 years ago so I could take care of her. Now GB needs more assistance so we have moved her in with us too.
Change #2: I have switched to a mostly clean eating diet. I’m not perfect at it. I still eat the occasional Girl Scout cookie, but the majority of what I eat anymore is real whole foods.
Change #3: This month I started a fitness program. I am now one week into the 21-Day Fix, and I will be honest. It is HARD. There are exercises that I look at the screen & think, “You want me to do WHAT?!!” But I know that in the end it will be worth it. Actually, it already is because exercising daily has given me more energy and I have been more productive as a result. Exercising daily has also lifted a lot of the depression that I have been struggling with.
Change #4: With all of the healthy changes that I have been making, I have decided to become a health & fitness coach with Beachbody. Now before you start thinking, “Oh, no, she is going to post nothing but exercise & fitness & Beachbody.” I’m here to tell that will NOT happen. While I admit that you will see more posts of my story to health & wellness, I have scheduled just 1 day per week to talk about that and other tools to help YOU live a thriving life.
Alright. Now all of this is leading up to…
the changes I will be making to the blog
It is no secret that I have been struggling with the blog lately. I have been posting inconsistently and struggling to find a rhythm for the blog and for my life.
(I don’t like using the word “balance” because it draws a picture in my mind of walking a tight rope. When you are walking a tight rope, it just takes one slip to send you crashing down.
Instead, I like to use the word “rhythm” because then I think of a dance. When you dance, sure, you are going to mess up from time to time, but one slip or mistake doesn’t send everything crashing down.
And I think that life is a lot more like a dance than like walking a tightrope. Also viewing life as a dance leaves a lot more room for grace, and so finding a rhythm that suits your life makes a lot more sense to me than trying to find balance.)
Okay, now that I have digressed let’s get back to the subject at hand:
Changes to the blog
I have actually been considering quitting the blog altogether. With some of the changes in my life, it has been hard to find the time to sit down and write. I have also been having a lot of computer problems too. (It is time for a new computer, but I can’t afford one yet.) Every time I pray about quitting though so happens that encourages me to keep going, but I have decided that if I’m going to keep going I need to get better organized so I have spent this past week working on a blogging schedule & my editorial calendar. I have a binder full of post topics & series ideas. I just to start working on them and writing them.
This is the post schedule that I came up with:
Monday: Walking in Faith
These posts will be like short devotionals meant to encourage your growth in Christ.
Tuesday: Series posts
If I’m working on series the posts for that series will be on Tuesdays unless the series is related to The Single Life. Some of the series topics that I’m thinking about are: A Woman of Noble Character (study of Proverbs 31), The Names of God, or going through a different book of the Bible each month.
Wednesday: The Single Life
I have decided to bring the Single Life back. These posts are meant to encourage & mentor single Christian women. And the link party will be coming back too so that we can build a community to encourage each other.
Thursday: Thriving Thursdays
Thursdays will be all about helping you find the tools you need in order to help you thrive–whether it is physically, spiritually, mentally, or emotionally.
Friday: Friday Fun Day
Friday will remain the fun day where I will share recipes, crafts, book reviews, bucket lists, etc.
I’m trying to think of the blog more like a magazine, and I want to share topics & ideas that are relevant to you so please feel free to share any topics that you want me to cover or discuss and send me questions. I can’t write for YOU if I don’t know what you want to read and what is encouraging to you.
I also want to share my story with you. Share my struggles & my triumphs. Share what the Lord is doing in my life, but I don’t want to come across as arrogant & like I have it all together because I’m so far away from having it all together.
