2013 Autumn Bucket List

So once again, a new season hits and out comes all these moms with fun bucket lists of things to do with their children this autumn. Well, what’s a single girl to do?

Make her own list of course!

So here is my autumn bucket list! It is a lot shorter than my summer bucket list (because I have to be honest and say that I didn’t manage to do half of the things on my summer bucket list).

1) “Boo” some of my neighbors

I’ve seen this idea floating around the Pinterest world for a couple of years now. I haven’t attempted to do it, but as I have been thinking of ways to reach out to others, I thought that this sounded fun! Click on the picture above and it will take you to the blog eighteen25 for more information and free printables on “Booing” your neighbors.

2) Paint a “funky” pumpkin

Why do a traditional jack-o-lantern when you can have fun and be colorful with this easy “funky” pumpkins?

3) Make apple butter

I absolutely love apple butter, and it is so easy to make. Try this recipe from MyRecipes.com.

4) Complete the 50 Fall Photo Prompts checklist

Misha and Amanda over at Photographie J’Adore have this great list of fun photos to take this autumn.

5) Make apple sauce

Making applesauce takes me back to my childhood. My grandparents had an orchard and every fall I would help Grandma make applesauce.

6) Make “spider” cupcakes

Jen over at Craft-O-Maniac made these adorable cupcakes for her son’s birthday last October, and when I saw them I thought, “What a fun Saturday afternoon project to do with my niece and my nephew?”

7) Go pumpkin bowling

Doesn’t this sound like great fun? And no gutter balls! How could you lose? This is just one of many outdoor decorating ideas that you will find over at The Polohouse.

8) Visit a pumpkin patch with my niece & my nephew

I love taking my niece & my nephew to the pumpkin patch, and we have some great ones around here. Hayrides, train rides, petting zoos, and playgrounds are included!

9) Make a scarecrow

You can have so much fun with this idea. From small to large, from funny to spooky, make your scarecrow fun and unique!

10) Make autumn dishtowels

I love making things and what better way to celebrate autumn than making some beautiful autumn dishtowels. They can be embroidered like the ones above or you can paint a fun design on them.

11) Go on  a hayride

Hayrides can be a lot of fun. Get a group of friends together, load hay in the back of a truck or wagon and take off down the road. You’re drinking hot chocolate and singing songs. What can be better than that?

12) Create a new door wreath

There are so many fun and easy ways to decorate your home for autumn like making this adorable pumpkin wreath from Top This Top That.

13) Start a gratitude basket/jar

It is important to give thanks all year round, but at this time of year we seem to draw special attention to it. This year I have decided to start my own gratitude basket. I found a cute basket at Joann’s and I am planning on writing down 3 things everyday that I am grateful for. I might even add a few photos in.

14) Visit a corn maze

To be honest, this one scares me a bit. I don’t like confined spaces really well, but we all have to face our fears sometime so why not now?

15) Read all of the books on my autumn reading list

I have not started making my autumn reading list, but you will see it next week sometime.

16) Have a football party

I have to admit that I love football. I know many women don’t understand it, but I started watching it because I love my dad and it has always been one way to spend time with him. While we don’t go to the actual games almost every Sunday we can be found watching the Chiefs together at home. So what is more natural than having a “tailgating” party at home one Sunday?

17) Decorate autumn cookies

What can I say? I think decorating cookies should be on every bucket list for every season.

18) Create a pumpkin man

I can easily see this “man” out on my front porch this fall. What about you?

19) Make a crocheted spiderweb

20) Open an Etsy shop!

Okay, this is the only one I don’t have a picture for, and it is the only one that I am totally uncertain about. I love to craft and I love vintage things. Crochet! Hand embroidery! Vintage books! Sewing! Makes starting an Etsy shop seem ideal, right? Well…it would be if I could make up my mind about what I want to start selling in it! So this one might or might not happen.

Well, autumn is here and it is time to start working on that list above.

Have fun and make your own list!
